Today is one of our favorite days of the year- the House Sorting Ceremony! At the end of the first week of school, we sort our newest Bobcats into their houses here at Dodd. The House System allows us to create a strong sense of community between all students and staff members by getting to know others we might not see on a daily basis. It instills strong school spirit and pride, and it’s where we learn and practice our six pillars of character...the traits that we strive to instill in each Bobcat before leaving Dodd. Participation in the House System allows students to set goals together, compete together, motivate and encourage one another, and ultimately form a family-like bond with their other House members. Students were sorted by randomly selecting a lollipop from the lollipop tree; at the base of each lollipop was a color, representing one of the six houses! After the sorting ceremony, each house held their first meeting of the year where they played different ice breaker games to get to know one another- everything from freeze tag to lining up in alphabetical order! We also had our first house leader, House Banga! They won the spirit stick for closing the week out with the most points, which were earned by the house staff members during some friendly staff house vs house competition during our staff development week last week.
